Power Outage Affects Over 9,000 SDG&E Customers In East County
The massive power outage affected the communities in or around Santee, El Cajon and Lakeside.
SANTEE, CA — A power outage left thousands of San Diego Gas & Electric customers without power Friday morning in San Diego's East County.
The outage was reported at 7:39 a.m. and affected seven circuits in the areas in or around Santee, El Cajon and Lakeside. More than 9,000 customers were impacted, according to SDG&E's online outage map. The affected communities included Eucalyptus Hills, San Vicente, Foster, Moreno, Santee, Carlton Hills, Winter Gardens, Lakeside and Bostonia.
SDG&E estimated the power would be restored by 10:30 a.m. By 9 a.m., a little over 1,000 customers were left without power.
