Police Raid Pot Dispensary In East County
Authorities seized cannabis and cash and arrested 11 people working at the shop in El Cajon.

EL CAJON, CA – Police raided an unlicensed marijuana dispensary in El Cajon Thursday, seizing cannabis and cash and arresting 11 people working at the shop.
Officers served a search warrant at Cloud 9 Wellness in the 400 block of West Douglas Avenue about 9:30 a.m., ECPD Lt. Walt Miller said. It was the second such enforcement action to take place at the business this month, he said.
In addition to impounding "a large amount" of marijuana and money, the personnel arrested nine store employees and two security guards on suspicion of taking part in illegal drug transactions.

Though the state legalized recreational marijuana in 2016, El Cajon has enacted a municipal code that prohibits sales of the drug within its city limits.
"This law will be strictly enforced, in part to help prevent the type of activity these illegal businesses often bring to nearby neighborhood residents, such as discarded drug paraphernalia, excessive loitering, robberies and burglaries," Miller said.
