Reported Threat Prompts Lockdown At East County High School
Deputies from the Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Station responded and remained on campus as detectives investigated.
SPRING VALLEY, CA — A reported threat prompted a temporary campus lockdown Monday at an East County school, authorities said.
Monte Vista High School administrators notified the school resource deputy after receiving a threatening phone call shortly after noon at the campus at 3230 Sweetwater Springs Blvd. in Spring Valley, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office. The high school was immediately placed on "secure campus" status, requiring students and staff to remain indoors while instruction continued with classroom doors locked.
Deputies from the Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Station responded and remained on campus as detectives investigated. Authorities said the investigation linked the call to multiple similar incidents reported over the past two weeks by other law enforcement agencies in California and Idaho. The calls involved the same phone number and same wording.
