San Diego Festival Chorus and Orchestra perform "Two for the Show"

Hear our 90-voice chorus and 48-piece orchestra perform two marvelous works in an outstanding venue! Sunday, May 3, 2015 at 3:00 PM.

Our very own East County community chorus, 90 members strong with our 48 piece orchestra, is in its 15th season featuring classical and lighter music to delight your discriminating ear.

For our spring concert we present Rossini’s “Stabat Mater”, his greatest sacred work. Rossini was called “The Italian Mozart” because of the song-like melodies throughout his scores. Rossini was best known for his operas (“The Barber of Seville”) and by his retirement in 1829 he had written 39 operas and was the most popular and prolific composer of his time.

Our second musical offering is a special treat by John Rutter of English choral music fame. His superb arrangement of “Feel the Spirit” includes many of the famous spirituals that have made American music known throughout the world. We love to perform any of Rutter’s music from the sacred to the secular. His compositions are uniquely his with their unforgettable melodies.
