Nominate Person of the Year and Vote for Santee's Favorites
Nominate an individual who has made a significant contribution to the community and vote for your favorite businesses in town, hosted by the Santee Chamber of Commerce.
The Santee Chamber of Commerce is calling for nominations for their 2012-13 Person of the Year Award and is currently holding online voting for "Santee's Favorites," a local best businesses poll.
The Person of the Year Award is given annually to an "individual who has made a significant contribution to the community of Santee's quality of life though their involvement in any of a given variety of community activities to include charity, service projects, educational, youth, civic, religious, or other like activities," according to the Chamber.
The award may reflect current contributions or those made over a period of time. Deadline for submission is February 8.

In previous years the Person of the Year Award was known as Santee Citizen of the Year, but it has been retooled to allow those who don't live in Santee, but still have a positive affect within the community, to win the award. Last year's winner was Joe Spencer- not a Santee resident- which caused some discontent.

The recipients of the Person of the Year Award and Santee's Favorites will be recognized at the Santee Chamber's Awards Night celebration on Thursday, February 28 at Barona Resort & Casino.
