VIDEO: Santee Man Fighting Brain Cancer

David's story; please watch the video.

This is the story of Karen and David. A couple very much in love for more than 20 years. Karen was laid off in a sweeping downsize. Shortly there after, she was injured. She became dependent on David to help with daily tasks as she slowly recovered. He was her strong caring angel.

Suddenly in June 2014 at the age of 45, her angel was diagnosed with brain cancer (GBM4) and was given a life expectancy of 6 to 12 months.

The vacation and sick leave he’d never taken continued to pay for their insurance, until it ran out. Faced with a significantly diminished income, insurance premiums, a large deductible, the costs mounted for having to acquire equipment to help David with routine mobility and copays for therapies and in home follow up; Karen has become his primary caregiver.

David’s mother occasionally sits with her son. All their other parents have predeceased them. No one else in the family has been able to take on the day to day primary care and offer financial assistance. Hence, the increasing debt.

Though physically limited and heartbroken herself, Karen continues to advocate, care for and do everything for her David. Any little bit you can give to relieve their burden is appreciated and will be answered with prayers of gratitude.
