Santee Woman's Death Ruled Homicide: Sheriff's Department

SANTEE, CA — The suspicions of San Diego sheriff's investigators that a Santee woman's death this week was a homicide have been confirmed through an autopsy by the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

Sheriff's Lt. Kenneth Nelson stated in a news release Friday evening that the victim has been positively identified as Leticia Arroyo, 34, of Santee.

Authorities found Arroyo dead Tuesday in her apartment at 8837 Mission Greens Road, Unit 3 — near Mission Gorge Road and Cuyamaca Street— in Santee, after her roommate called 911 at 10:39 p.m. to say they'd just returned home and found their roommate unconscious with injuries to her upper body.

Nelson said details surrounding her death will not be disclosed at this time.

"Detectives are actively following up on multiple leads and attempting to identify the suspect(s) involved," Nelson said. "Therefore the cause of death and other information regarding the victim and crime scene cannot be released at this time. As the investigation progresses, additional information may be released."
