SDSU Offers Online Professional Certificate in Grant Writing

SDSU is offering a Professional Certificate in Grant Writing online program this fall that starts exclusively online Sept. 8.

According to the 2015 State of Nonprofits Annual Report, San Diego is home to nearly 9,900 nonprofit organizations – from large educational institutions and hospitals to small startup agencies – and they all compete for grant funding. This number has nearly doubled since 1995 when there were 5,100 nonprofits in San Diego.

SDSU’s College of Extended Studies is offering a Professional Certificate in Grant Writing online program this fall that will help students learn how to write a flawless and compelling grant proposal that is crucial to securing available funding.

This certificate program features two online courses: Introduction to Grants and Funding Research taking place Sept. 8-Oct. 12, and Grant Proposal Development from Oct. 26-Dec. 3.

Students learn how to identify funding prospects, understand grant guidelines, and develop a compelling program narrative and budget. In addition, they are taught how to construct a proposal that is clear, persuasive, and resonates with the priorities of various funders.

These comprehensive courses are geared to grant writers, employees from nonprofit organizations, city and county governments, chambers of commerce, education (private and public), public health, and social work; as well as independent consultants and grant writers needing continuing education units.
