Sheriff's Department Arrests 13 in East County Warrant Sweep

SAN DIEGO, CA -- Sheriff's deputies Saturday arrested more than a dozen people as part of a warrant sweep in the East County region. Deputies apprehended 13 people, all adults, in El Cajon, Santee, Lakeside, Alpine and Pine Valley, focusing on any outstanding warrants "regardless of charge or bail amount," said San Diego County Sheriff's Sgt. Rick Turvey.

A total of 34 misdemeanor warrants and two felony warrants were cleared, Turvey said.

The warrant sweep was funded by the sheriff's Warrant System Automation Trust Fund, which is made up of assessment fees collected from people who have violated a written promise to appear in court or failed to comply with a court order, Turvey said.
