Trucker Discovers Man's Body on I-8 Near Pine Valley

PINE VALLEY, CA: A man found dead Tuesday night alongside Interstate 8 in Pine Valley may have been the victim of a hit-and-run, authorities said.

A trucker spotted the body of a man with a flashlight partially blocking the right eastbound lane near Crestwood Road shortly before 10:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. Investigators said the man appeared to have been hit by a vehicle about 40 minutes beforehand.

Although the make and model of the vehicle were not immediately known, CHP officials said it likely was left with damage to the right front.

A tow truck was requested for a vehicle in the area, but it was not immediately clear whether it was suspected in the crash.
