View Finder: Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center

A good place to learn more about the largest city park in the state.

, established in 1974, boasts 5,800 acres of open nature preserve in San Diego, just on the border of Santee. It is the sixth largest municipally owned park in the United States, and is the largest in the state of California.

The park consists mostly of rugged canyons and hills, the highest point in the park is , which many San Diegans are familiar with, due to it’s popular hiking trail.

Before venturing off on many of the trail and activities that the park has to offer, it is best to check out the Visitor Center. The $5.5 million complex opened in February, 1995, paid for with corporate and private donations and state and local grants.
