Vista Fire: 25 Acres Burned, 90% Contained In East County
The blaze broke out in the 1900 block of Vista de la Montana in the Dehesa area, east of El Cajon, according to Cal Fire.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA – A brush fire that sparked Wednesday in San Diego's East County was 90 percent contained Thursday morning, Cal Fire officials said.
The blaze, called the Vista Fire, broke out at 3:47 p.m. in the 1900 block of Vista de la Montana in the Dehesa area, east of El Cajon, according to Cal Fire. The fire scorched 25 acres and threatened structures in the area.
Authorities evacuated people from homes along Vista de la Montana and Calle de Nicole as the flames spread, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Ground crews and personnel aboard firefighting helicopters and airplanes worked to subdue the flames. Firefighters halted the fire's spread by 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Cal Fire reported. All evacuation orders and warnings were lifted around 6:45 p.m.
Two firefighters were treated for minor injuries, then immediately allowed to return to work, Cal Fire Capt. Thomas Shoots said.

As of 8 a.m., the fire was 90 percent contained, with full containment expected by 5 p.m. Thursday, Cal Fire officials said.
