What Would You Build in Santee?

We asked Patch readers what they would build (or fix) in Santee with $1 million. Here's what you said.

Santee, CA - Earlier this week, Santee Patch asked our Facebook readers what they would build or fix in town if they were given $1 million.

Readers from across the area responded with answers varying from new playgrounds, renovated high schools and improved hospitals.

Also early this week, U.S. News and World Report released its list of the Top 10 Children’s Hospitals Across the Country. The hospitals were ranked in terms of β€œclinical outcomes,” β€œefficient coordination of care,” and β€œcare-related resources.”

The publication periodically releases lists regarding the best schools in the country as well as most livable cities. Many of the things that make a town or city β€˜livable’ are resources and public spaces i.e. good schools, roads, parks, libraries, etc. Not surprisingly, these were many of the things readers said they would build or fix in their town if granted $1 million to do so.

  • "Beautiful Prospect renovation happened where the business district lies, but the area full of residents who love to walk have unfinished pavement and no landscaping!"
  • "Tear down some of the older apartment buildings and build single family homes."
  • "I can think of many uses for one million not involving Santee, but if that were the caveat, I would definitely commission some local art. This city is sadly lacking public art."
  • "I would build an affordable living center for disabled adults they could be more independent and financially responsible."
