Woman Dies in Rollover Crash Near Jamul

Jamul, CA — A Dulzura woman died in what appeared to be an alcohol-related rollover crash Wednesday night on state Route 94 near Jamul, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The wreck occurred about 9:15 p.m. as the 36-year-old woman — whose name was not disclosed in the report — was driving a 2004 Ford Sport Trac eastbound on 94 east of Otay Lakes Road, according to CHP Public Information Officer Kevin Pearlstein.

She was going approximately 45 mph when she "failed to negotiate a left-hand curve in the roadway," Pearlstein said, causing the pick-up truck to overturn and land on an unpaved portion of the roadway.

The woman, whom Pearlstein said was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the truck and landed on pavement.

Emergency personnel responded but were not able to revive her and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash, Pearlstein said.
