Woman Dies in Rollover Crash Near Jamul

The crash on state Route 94 appeared to be alcohol-related, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

Jamul, CA β€” A Dulzura woman diedΒ in what appeared to be an alcohol-relatedΒ rolloverΒ crashΒ Wednesday night on state Route 94 nearΒ Jamul, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The wreck occurred aboutΒ 9:15Β p.m. as theΒ 36-year-old woman β€” whose name was not disclosed in the reportΒ β€” was driving a 2004 Ford Sport Trac eastbound on 94 east of Otay Lakes Road, according to CHP Public Information OfficerΒ Kevin Pearlstein.

She was goingΒ approximately 45 mph when she "failed to negotiate a left-hand curve in the roadway," Pearlstein said, causing the pick-up truck to overturn and land on an unpavedΒ portion of the roadway.

The woman, whom Pearlstein said was notΒ wearing a seatΒ belt,Β was ejected from the truckΒ and landed onΒ pavement.

Emergency personnel responded but wereΒ not able to revive her and sheΒ was pronounced deadΒ at the scene.

Alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash, Pearlstein said.
