Speeding Problem on Saratoga Ave?

Speeds of between 30 and 45 mph on busy thoroughfare don't seem to be obeyed by motorists.

What's the speed limit on Saratoga Avenue after exiting Highway 85 and then proceeding southwest to Saratoga Village?

It seems motorists in this highly congested area, right before Saratoga Avenue becomes Big Basin Way, don't know or can't see the posted speed-limit signs because everyone seemed pedal-to-the-metal on Wednesday afternoon.

One Santa Clara County sheriff's deputy had stopped a northeast-bound car right before the Highway 85 Saratoga Avenue entrance early Wednesday afternoon to issue a speeding ticket.

We called the city to find out and learned that cars are supposed to be traveling 40 miles per hour on Saratoga Avenue, however, as the road nears the Fruitvale Avenue intersection, motorists must drive 35 mph.

In Saratoga Village, the speed limit is said to be 30 mph, said Shaheen Sarwari, administrative assistant to Saratoga's Public Works Department.
