The West Valley College Art Gallery presents a free faculty art exhibit 12:30-3 p.m. through today, Thursday, Feb. 21, 14000 Fruitvale Ave. The show features more than 30 works of art in a variety of media. Montalvo Arts Center presents "Happiness Is," an exhibit featuring the work of artists Susan O’Malley, Leah Rosenberg and Christine Wong Yap 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday through Sunday until April 14, 15400 Montalvo Rd. Learn the art of making sushi at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 20955 Stevens Creek Blvd., in Cupertino. Join Kaz Matsune, the owner and chef of Breakthrough Sushi, as he demonstrates the basics; making sushi rice, cutting vegetables and how to make California Roll. He will show the ins and outs to answer questions and mysteries surrounding sushi making. Demonstration class with sampling of sushi. Tickets are $25.
Montalvo Arts Center presents The Catalyst Quartet at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 at the Historic Villa. Hailed by the New York Times at their Carnegie Hall debut as “invariably energetic and finely burnished … playing with earthy vigor,” the Catalyst Quartet is comprised of top Laureates and alumni of the internationally acclaimed Sphinx Competition for young Black and Latino string players. Founded by the Sphinx Organization, the Catalyst Quartet combines a serious commitment to diversity and education with a passion for accessible contemporary works.
