What to Expect from Tonight's Saratoga Union School Board Meeting
Proposal to refinance general obligations bonds to equip classrooms with technology hardware and parcel tax expenditures for 2012-13 will be heard Tuesday evening by trustees.
Saratoga Union School District trustees meet at 7 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 26 at the agency's office conference room, 20460 Forrest Hills Dr., to discuss the following:
- Donation of a Yamaha YDP-C71PE Arius digital piano with bench by Tamami Honma, Michelle Fan and Anjali Sridhar for use at Argonaut Elementary School.
- A consulting services contract to support the Saratoga Union School District in the creation of a new strategic plan building upon the current vision of "three-dimensional success for all students."
- Principal Joe Bosco and Special Day Class teacher Karen Smyrl will present information regarding Foothill Elementary School's PPBS program for students.
- Tim Carty, managing director of Piper Jaffray & Co., will present information and a proposal to refinance general obligation bonds. Carty will also present a proposal to issue authorized but unissued general obligation bonds for the purpose of equipping classrooms and schools with technology hardware. This presentation is a discussion item only. Staff will ask for direction on this agenda item.
- Director of Educational Services Diane Smalley will update the board on items in relation to district-wide curriculum, instruction and assessment.
- Superintendent Lane Weiss and Chief Business Officer Rosanna Jeng will update the board on state and district budget items.
- The board will take action on staff recommendations for parcel tax expenditures for 2012-13.
