What to Expect From Tonight's Saratoga Union School District Board Meeting

The Saratoga Union School District Board of Trustees meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 at the agency's office conference room, 20460 Forrest Hills Drive, in Saratoga, to discuss the following:

• Board President Patty Buchanan will recognize and thank outgoing board member Cindy Ruby
• Superintendent Lane Weiss will administer the oath of office to incoming trustees Arati Nagaraj and Yongwei “Victor” Zhang
• Board will elect a president, clerk and secretary
• The Board will take action on Weiss' contract
• Director of Educational Services Diane Smalley will update the board on district-wide curriculum, instruction and assessment.
• Board and staff will share highlights from the California School Boards Association Conference
• The Board will certify that the district is able to meet its financial obligations for the remainder of the 2012-13 school year and the subsequent two years. Chief Business Officer Rosanna Jeng will review year to date income and expenses through Oct. 31, 2012 and projected income and expenses for years 2013-14 and 2014-15
• Weiss will facilitate a discussion regarding the status of reduced programs and staffing district-wide. The board will give Weiss direction on any proposals for further reductions or reinstatement of programs and staffing
