Woman Arrested in Saratoga for Felony Child Abuse

San Jose resident is taken into custody at Chester Avenue and Short Hill Court.

A San Jose woman was arrested by Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies last month in Saratoga after being accused of felony child abuse.

According to sheriff's reports, Eddie Washington, 38, was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant at 6:30 a.m. Feb. 23 at Chester Avenue and Short Hill Court in Saratoga.

Washington was being sought by authorities after being charged with felony willful harm or injury to child endangerment.

If convicted of the crime, Washington could be punished by imprisonment at the Santa Clara County Jail for a period not exceeding one year, or in the state prison for two, four, or six years.

According to the California penal code, child endangerment occurs when an individual either places a child in a dangerous situation, or allows a child to be placed in a dangerous situation without taking steps to protect the child.

The crime may be charged even when the child suffers no actual injury, according to the law.
