2 From Gilroy Severely Injured In Hwy 152 Crash

The accident was Wednesday a.m. near Santa Cruz County border. A passenger wandered about 1 mile looking for help.

Two Gilroy residents suffered major injuries in a car crash off state Highway 152 in Santa Clara County near the border to Santa Cruz County early this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

An 18-year-old man was driving a 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse on westbound Highway 152 east of Pole Line Road around 2:30 a.m. when he veered the vehicle across an eastbound lane, CHP officials said.

The car traveled onto a dirt shoulder and down an embankment before it overturned, landing on its roof, according to the CHP.

A 25-year-old woman who was a passenger managed to leave the vehicle and looked for help, CHP officials said. Officers found her about a mile east of the crash, according to the CHP. The driver was located in the car behind the driver’s seat still wearing his seat belt, CHP officials said.

They both suffered major head injuries and were transported to Regional Medical Center of San Jose for treatment, according to the CHP.
