Diggerz—Club Volleyball in Scotts Valley
Volleyball is the second most popular sport exceeded only by soccer worldwide.
Volleyball is an exciting and extremely competitive game to play. It is physically demanding and requires agility, strength and quickness. It is also the second most popular sport, exceeded only by soccer, worldwide.
And volleyball in Scotts Valley continues to be a popular sport. Diggerz is the first club volleyball team to be offered in Scotts Valley with league play January through June. The local volleyball club consists of two girls teams, U14 and U16, with players ages 13-16. The teams practice twice a week and compete in tournaments throughout northern California.
The players on the U16 Diggerz team are all first-rate competitors and athletes who have a passion for the game.

“A majority of our players are multi-sport athletes with many playing soccer, track and field and softball,” Coach Gary Fish said.
The teams are coached by volunteers with experience in volleyball instruction. A professional trainer works with the girls once a week on injury prevention, jump training and strength.

“We’ve made great friends through the club. Practice is always filled with laughs in addition to playing volleyball,” player Emma Saso said. “Playing volleyball is a really fun sport. As a team we must focus and work together for the ultimate goal—the win.”
So far this season, the Diggerz U16 team has showed amazing teamwork and perseverance at their first two tournaments. They faced stiff competition, but were able to come together and finish their first tournament with 2 match losses and 2 wins.
