The American Cancer Society Scotts Valley Relay For Life is a 24 hour community walk that is happening at Skypark on May 19th. Families, friends, businesses form a team, camp out and raise money to fund local services and also fund research to find a cure. The Relay celebrates cancer survivors and they are our guests of honor. They walk the first lap and everyone is cheering for them and their caregivers. They receive a special t-shirt, gift bag and a free catered lunch. The Relay then continues with live music, food, games, raffles, kid's camp and more. At dusk, thousands of paper bags decorated for those who have been touched by cancer are lit up and it is a beautiful and very touching ceremony. We remember those we lost to this terrible disease. Then finally towards the end of the 24 hours we all promise to fight back against cancer. Be a part of finding a cure!
