Youth Shakespeare’s β€˜Romeo and Juliet’

Where/when: St. Philips the Apostle Episcopal Church, 5271 Scotts Valley Dr. Friday at 2 and 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 4 p.m.

What: The young thespians participating in Scotts Valley Performing Arts’ Youth Shakespeare program will present a new take on William Shakespeare's much loved Romeo and Juliet. The play, set on the Island of Verona, somewhere in the Caribbean, where two rival groups of pirates disturb the civil society, promises to be exciting for the whole family.

Price: Tickets are $15 for general admission; $10 for children 6 and under; $12 for students; and $9 each for groups of 8 or more. Tickets can be purchased at the door or at www.svpaa.org.

Scotts Valley Summer Crafter's Market

Where/When: Scotts Valley Artisans, 230D Mt. Hermon Rd. (in the parking lot), Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

What: Celebrate summer with local artists every Saturday through Aug. 18 at this weekly summer crafter's market, featuring the original work of Santa Cruz County fine artists and artisans. This "local artists only" event showcases the work of our artistically-rich county in a family-friendly, outdoor setting.

Price: Admission is free. Arts and crafts will be available for purchase at various prices.

SCMWA Summer Passport Day

Where/When: Various Santa Cruz Mountains Wineries. Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

What: The Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association is holding its Summer Passport Day. This is a chance for wine lovers to visit wineries that are not normally open to the public. Dozens of Santa Cruz Mountains wineries will be participating, including Scotts Valley’s Heart of the Mountain. For a list of participating wineries, visit www.scmwa.com.

Price: Passports are $45 and can be purchased at all participating wineries

Family Time at the Library

Where/When: Scotts Valley Library, 251 Kings Village Rd. Saturday, 11 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

What: The library will be hosting an event for the whole family. Family Time will include crafts and activities that every member of the family can take part in.

Price: Free

Community Poetry Circle

Where/When: Scotts Valley Library, 251 Kings Village Rd. Saturday, 2-4 p.m.

What: Local poet/teacher Magdalena Montagne will be at the library leading a free writing workshop for the community. In the poetry circle, students will write new works in a supportive and fun environment. All levels and ages are encouraged to attend.
