• Arrest made in Scotts Valley fires (pressbanner.com) — An arrest has been made after multiple small vegetation fires were intentionally set along Green Hills Road in Scotts Valley on August 19, burning about a quarter acre but sparing homes and lives. Cal Fire and Scotts Valley Police say the suspect admitted starting the fires, and the case is now in the hands of Santa Cruz County Superior Court. 
• SV's Vaughn Chomentowski continues to thrive at Cabrillo (pressbanner.com) — A recent Scotts Valley High graduate, Vaughn Chomentowski, is already standing out as a freshman defensive back on Cabrillo College's football team after briefly questioning whether to keep playing.
