Vargas Academy of Gymnastics, Arts & Dance Prepares to Celebrate its One-Year Anniversary
Everyone involved is raising the ceiling on fun.
Kids and teams of all ages are busy preparing for the upcoming one-year anniversary celebration being held Sunday, May 15 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Vargas Academy of Gymnastics, Arts and Dance.
The 7,500 square-foot facility will celebrate its first birthday with events that include routines from cheer teams, demonstrations from the trampoline and tumbling teams and gymnastics sequences.
The day’s events will include food, drinks and raffle prizes. You could win six months of free gymnastics classes, gift certificates from Jia Tella’s and Elite Martial Arts and more.

A dunk tank will provide entertainment in the afternoon where kids are encouraged to dunk their favorite coach.
Owner and instructor Vern Vargas has a passion for gymnastics that started at the young age of 3 when his mother found him balancing on the backyard fence and doing flips in the yard. He competed in gymnastics between the ages of 6 and 11, then became involved in cheerleading at the high school level.

Vargas has dedicated his life to gymnastics, cheer and dance with the natural transition to educating and coaching. He enjoys presenting new challenges to his students and watching them succeed.He has established himself as a fun, respectful gymnastics coach with a style that impacts his students for life.
Vargas Academy offers classes from beginner to advanced with classes also geared toward preschoolers. Tumbling classes are offered through Scotts Valley Parks and Recreation, with classes held at Vargas' gym.
Students are currently enjoying gymnastics, cheer, cheer tumbling, tumbling and trampoline, acrobatics and martial arts, with Zumba and dance coming soon.

"There is a lot going on at this place," says Stephanie Giudici, office manager and receptionist. "I love working here. It’s upbeat and everyone is friendly. The gym feels like family to me."
"The quality of our instructors makes the difference," Giudici adds. "The instructors are energetic and patient and enjoy working with children of all ages."

"My daughter’s playful activity has turned into a passion for gymnastics," Perry Samios says.
His daughter Naiya Samios is 5 and the youngest on the gym team. They have been coming to Vargas Academy since it opened one year ago.
"My daughter is really advancing quickly," Samios says. "All the instructors are experienced and good with the kids."
Shari and Mike Mattingly have two kids that are both involved with the tumbling and trampoline team.
"My kids have progressed with Vern’s coaching style," Shari Mattingly says. "They are very happy here and really like Vern. If the kids are happy, the parents are happy. It's all good."
The tumbling and trampoline teams are on a roll and recently competed in the state championships held in Rocklin, Calif. Vargas Academy captured 48 medals: 20 gold, 18 silver and 10 bronze
