Another Person Killed by Train While Filming

A man was killed by a train in North Hollywood Wednesday while filming. It's LA's second filmmaker to die on the tracks this year.

A man who apparently was filming near a railroad track in North Hollywood today was struck and fatally injured by an Amtrak train, authorities said.

It’s the second time this year that someone was killed by a train while filming by the tracks in Los Angeles County.

Paramedics sent to the 12900 block of Raymer Street about 9:40 a.m. took the man to a hospital, where he died, said Los Angeles police Detective Bill Bustos of the Valley Traffic Division. Authorities withheld his name, pending notification of his relatives.

The man, about 30, was possibly a film student, according to Bustos. He said the man apparently had been filming in the area and was walking adjacent to the track with his back to the train, which was going about 60 mph when it hit him.

There were no injuries on Amtrak train 763, which was westbound when it struck the man. The train, with about 80 people aboard, had left Union Station and was en route to Goleta, Bustos said.

Correction: An earlier version of this story misidentified the train involved in the accident.
