Firefighters Battle Tough Blaze at Valley Glen Commercial Building

A fire tore through a one-story commercial building in Valley Glen Friday night, destroying one business, and causing smoke and water damage to another in the same structure.

A firefighter was treated for exhaustion at the scene of the fire, which was reported at 7:37 p.m. in the 7400 block of Fulton Avenue, near Sherman Way, said Katherine Main of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Two businesses were housed in the building, Main said. One, I-Grade Food Supply, was a complete loss, but firefighters were able to prevent flames spreading to the adjoining building, she said.

A total of 118 firefighters responded and knocked down the fire in 54 minutes, she said.
The cause of the fire and estimate of financial loss would be established Saturday, Main said, with firefighters remaining on-scene overnight.
