Firefighters Take Aggressive Tack to Stop Beverly Glen Blaze

Los Angeles firefighters called in helicopters to help extinguish a half acre of burning brush near Stone Canyon Reservoir, in upper Beverly Glen Canyon, north of Beverly Hills today.

The fire was reported at 1:15 p.m. and reported “knocked down” at 1:54, city fire spokesman Erik Scott said

The city fire department also called in a county fire helicopter to join its choppers and ground crews.

The fire was reportedly on the southeast side of the reservoir, a park where medium brush was reported to be aflame.

“We did have a very aggressive attack from the ground and air.”

There were no residences in the direct path of the flames, he told City News Service.

Breezes were about 6 miles per hour and the humidity was 11 percent.

The fire was reported at about 1:15 p.m. at the 1600 block Stone Canyon Road. Smoke was visible from Beverly Hills and from Mulholland Highway.
