Firefighters Work To Quell Brush Fire Near Sherman Oaks

A fire burning near the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area had scorched at least a quarter of an acre Saturday afternoon.

SHERMAN OAKS, CA — Firefighters were battling a brush fire that scorched a quarter of an acre near the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The fire was reported on the 6300 block of North Balboa Boulevard, officials said. It was not immediately known whether the fire was burning inside the park. Footage posted to Twitter showed large smoke plumes billowing over the fire.

No other details were immediately available.
