Jessica Simpson's Dad Pleads Not Guilty to DUI Charges

The father of singers Jessica and Ashlee Simpson pleaded not guilty today to two DUI charges stemming from his arrest last month at a police checkpoint in Sherman Oaks.
Joe Simpson, 54, was charged last month with the two misdemeanor counts resulting from his Aug. 4 arrest on Ventura Boulevard near Columbus Avenue.
He was released from jail the morning after his arrest.

Simpson did not appear in Van Nuys Superior Court, and an attorney entered the plea on his behalf. An Oct. 11 date was set for a pretrial hearing.
