LA County Fire Helicopter Suffers Engine Failure Mid-Air
The helicopter pilot managed to land safely in Canyon Country without any injuries.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopter crew managed to land safely in Canyon Country Thursday after one of its engines failed.
No no one was hurt in what the department is now calling a "precautionary landing." The landing — originally characterized by the fire department as an emergency landing — occurred shortly before 7 a.m. in the 13900 block of Lang Station Road.
"This was a precautionary landing and not an emergency landing," according to a fire department statement issued later.

The Firehawk helicopter "was returning from its forward deployed location to base for crew swap ... (and) experienced #2 engine failure," the fire department said in a tweet. "Pilot made emergency landing. All four personnel onboard safely on the ground."
The helicopter will undergo testing by mechanics before being cleared for another flight, officials said.
