Two Arrested In Macy's Takeover Robbery, 1 Suspect At Large

Police arrested two men suspected of pointing a gun at customers while robbing the Macy's at the at Westfield Fashion Square.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Police Wednesday sought the public's help in identifying one of three suspects involved in an armed robbery of a Macy's jewelry counter in Sherman Oaks.

Two suspects have been caught, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The robbery occurred about 10:35 a.m. on Nov. 30 at Westfield Fashion Square in the 14000 block of Riverside Drive, according to the LAPD.

Two suspects entered the store and approached the jewelry counter, where one used a hammer to break the glass counter before drawing a handgun and pointing it at several customers as the other grabbed several expensive watches. The suspects then ran to a vehicle where the third suspect remained during the robbery, police said.

The suspected gunman, 26-year-old Joseph Daniel Chavez, and the suspected driver, 27-year-old Joseph Anthony Chavez, have been arrested. Police have not said how or if they are related.

The gun believed used in the robbery has been recovered, police said.

The outstanding suspect, whose image was captured on surveillance video, is described as Hispanic, 20-30 years old, 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds. He was wearing a black and gray hoodie, tan shorts, white shoes, a brown baseball cap, black gloves and had a gray bandana covering his nose and mouth.
