In a partnership with LA City Councilman Paul Krekorian and the Greater Valley Glen Council, the Valley Glen Neighborhood Association is leading a community cleanup project to compete for a Clean Streets LA award. About 50 local Los Angeles communities will compete for recognition and cash awards.

The project will combine a posse of driving patrols reporting via myLA311.com with on-the-ground youth cleanup crews armed with rakes, shovels and trash bags. The effort will deploy teams for a street-by-street assessment of six basic districts of the greater Valley Glen area and identify abandoned waste hot spots. Volunteers will use cell phones to document trash and post activity to Facebook, Twitter and other media.
