Watch: Man Rescued From Rising Water In The Sepulveda Basin
Los Angeles firefighters worked overnight to pull a man from the rising flood water in the Sepulveda Basin.

VAN NUYS, CA — A man is recovering at a hospital today after firefighters rescued him from flood waters in the Sepulveda Basin overnight. With intense overnight rainfall pounding the region, the 52-year-old quickly found himself trapped in the rising water. By the time Los Angeles Fire Department rescue team got to him, he was stuck in six-feet of water.
Crews were called to the area at 1:36 a.m. The flood control basin at 15700 West Burbank Blvd had reached 3 to 6 feet of water, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.
The 52-year-old man was located at 2:15 a.m. and brought to safety and evaluated for potential hypothermia, Stewart said.

An LAFD helicopter was searching the area to be sure no other people needed rescue, she said.
