Water Main Burst Impedes Traffic in Sherman Oaks

A broken main sent water down a Sherman Oaks street this afternoon, but no customers were affected, authorities said.

The break in a 6-inch cast iron main was reported about 4 p.m. at the intersection of Magnolia Boulevard and Ranchito Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department and the Department of Water and Power.

The flow of water was shut off, according to a report from the scene.

A utility crew was on hand, but there was no estimated time of repair, DWP spokesman Jason Stinnett said.
