• Sierra Madre Playhouse Receives $2.5M State Grant for Accessibility and Facility Upgrades (broadwayworld.com) — Sierra Madre Playhouse has secured a record $2.5 million state grant to modernize its historic Main Street building, adding ADA access, upgraded HVAC and plumbing, and refreshed public areas. Local theatergoers can expect a more comfortable, accessible venue as the century-old cultural hub continues expanding performances and community programs, while residents are also invited to submit award nominations by October 31.
   

• Sierra Madre – Free Blood Pressure Screenings (keckmedicine.org) — Free blood pressure screenings are available today at the Sierra Madre Hart Park House Senior Center, giving local residents a quick way to check their numbers and get basic heart-health guidance. Adults can simply walk in, spend a few minutes with trained staff, and leave with a better understanding of hypertension risks and when to follow up with a doctor.
   

• Filmmaker finds roadblock in Sierra Madre (abc7.com) — Sierra Madre's film permitting costs and neighbor fees recently led an independent production to abandon a planned 19-day house shoot in town and move to Encino instead. A location scout publicly criticized the expense, while city officials disputed his figures but said they are reviewing the process and expect to bring proposed changes to the City Council in coming months.
