Blotter: Stolen Shampoo and Computers, DUIs
Sierra Madre police responded to a theft of bath items, stolen computers, three DUIs and discovered numerous unlicensed drivers in town last week.

During the week of Sunday, January 22nd to Saturday, January 28th, the responded to approximately 252 calls for service.
The following information was provided by the SMPD.
Bath and Home Décor Theft

An unknown suspect or suspects entered an unlocked car in the 400 blk. of Madre Lane at about 2:34 p.m. and stole three new curtains, shampoo and conditioner.

On January 25 at 8:55 p.m., officers responded to a residential burglary in the 500 blk. of E. Laurel Ave. Unknown suspect(s) entered the residence through a broken window and stole three computers and a printer worth over $1,650.
One…Two…Three…Four Unlicensed Drivers
January 26 brought out three unlicensed drivers. At 8:38 a.m. on the corner of Sierra Madre Blvd. and Hermosa Ave., SMPD officers stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. Officers found that the driver was driving on a suspended/revoked driver's license with service needed. Police cited and released the driver, and the vehicle was released to a licensed driver.
About an hour later at 9:54 a.m., officers stopped another vehicle for a vehicle code violation at Baldwin Ave. and Hampton Rd. Further investigation revealed the driver did not have a valid license. The driver was cited and released on a written promise to appear in court.
That evening at 11:46 p.m., officers again stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation, this time on Foothill Blvd. and Michillinda Ave. During the investigation a records check revealed the driver did not have a valid license. The driver was cited and released in the field and the vehicle was released to a licensed driver.
Two days later on January 28 at 9:09 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation at Baldwin Ave. and Grandview Ave. Officers found the driver was driving on a suspended/revoked driver's license with service needed. The driver was cited and released in the field and the vehicle was impounded.
Warrant Arrest on Rosemead
At about 12:35 a.m. on January 22, SMPD officers conducted a consent stop on two subjects in the 100 blk of Rosemead. One person was on probation for drug violations, while the second had recently been arrested for forgery. Officers performed a records check that revealed $150,000 in warrants for one of the subjects. He/she was arrested and transported to Temple Sheriff's station.
Three DUI Arrests
An officer stopped a motorist for a traffic violation at 11:13 p.m. on January 22nd at the intersection of Foothill Blvd. and Whispering Oaks Dr. The driver of the vehicle was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was promptly arrested and transported to the Pasadena Jail.
At 12:24 a.m. on January 25, an officer stopped a motorist for a traffic violation in the 00 blk. of N. Baldwin Ave. Further investigation revealed the driver was driving while intoxicated. The driver was arrested and transported to the Pasadena Jail.
Then, on January 27 at about 10:15 p.m., officers contacted the driver of a vehicle found in the middle of the roadway at Foothill Blvd. and Whispering Oaks Dr. Further investigation revealed the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Pasadena Jail.
Nine Identity Thefts
On Wednesday January 25, a resident reported that an unknown suspect(s) used the victim’s credit to obtain a loan for $11,100 without the victim’s permission.
Following the discovery of a device used to collect credit and debit card info from customers at Valero gas station in December 2011, over 30 identity thefts have been reported to Sierra Madre Police.
Residents who used a credit or debit card at Valero during the month of December are urged to check their bank statements for fraudulent activity and report it to police.

3:00 PM- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc. This incident involves the unauthorized fraudulent use of the victim’s credit/debit card number obtained from the Valero gas station.
