CBS Los Angeles Names Christian Lebano one of five L.A. Area's Best Local Theater Directors

CBS Los Angeles names Christian Lebano one of five L.A. Area's Best Local Theater Directors

Among a list of five area directors, Sierra Madre Playhouse board member, actor and director, Christian Lebano, was named. Compiled by Dena Burroughs, she went on to say:  "There are still a few days left to see “Driving Miss Daisy” at the Sierra Madre Playhouse, the latest play directed by Christian Lebano, who also serves on the board of this theater. This latest play has been a success since it started in January, prompting the playhouse to extend performances until March 30. Lebano is no stranger to the theater circuit in town. Also an actor, he has also performed at multiple theaters like the International City Theatre in Long Beach and has directed other premieres in local venues, including the Zephyr Theater and FirstStage Theater."

"Driving Miss Daisy" closes this Saturday after a successful run that included an "Ovation Recommended!" designation from the L.A. Stage Alliance.  The next production, "God's Man in Texas" directed by Nancy Youngblut opens April 12 with Lebano playing the role of Jeremiah Mears, the young pastor who arrives at Houston's Rock Baptist Church, the largest Baptist congregation in the world.  He has been selected  to  become the co-pastor and successor for the larger than life, vigorous 81 year old Dr. Philip Gottschall played by Ted Heyck. Playwright David Rambo who is currently involved with the Fox series "Revolution", takes a gentle jab at fundamentalist institutionalized religion while also focusing down on the egos and conflicts that arise as two men, of different generations and experience must juggle the business of religion with their call to preach their faith.  Paul Perri rounds out the cast as the loyal staffer to Dr. Gottschall who wears the past he has left behind in the name of Jesus- a past of drugs, women and and crime, as his passport to the 17 acre campus known as Rock Baptist Church.
