La Salle Cheer Walks Like M.A.D.D

La Salle Cheer supports Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)

On Saturday September 24th after a late Friday night game the cheerleaders met at 7 a.m. to walk like M.A.D.D in support of Mothers Against Drunk Driving. They headed out to Long Beach near the Queen Mary.

This is the second year the cheer team has participated in this early morning event. It was brought to the cheer teams attention after learning a fellow student (and sister to a cheer member) was struck by a drunk driver while in the car with her mother.

This near death experience really hit home for the family and the cheer team wants to work alongside them to make sure we bring awareness and help others to make smart choices. High school is such a crucial time when children become young adults and begin to make decisions on their own.

The  can only hope that by participating in this event they are doing their part to spread the word that drinking and driving do not mix!

The cheer team got to lead the warm up for the crowd with the Los Angeles Laker Girls, hear inspirational stories from law enforcement and victims, see the hundreds of people that came out to show support for victims that lost their lives because someone made the choice to drink and drive, the Long Beach Fire Department BBQ’d hotdog's and provided a nice lunch for the attendees as well.

It was a great time and they are hoping to bring out more people from the community next year to really shine light to an issue that is 100% preventable!
