Budincich Bests Personal, School Records at Nike National Meet
Sierra Madre youth leads team to first place finish at national meet.
Nick Budincich of Sierra Madre and Loyola High School of Los Angeles beat his personal shot put record - with a more than six foot improvement - to lead his Loyola Track team to the National Championship in the Nike National Meet Saturday in Eugene, Oregon.
Budincich, a junior, also doubled up on events by tossing the discus far enough for a fourth place finish, at 49.35 meters.
His second place finish in the shot put, at 61'101/2," was the fourth best mark by a prep in California this year.

Budincich also broke the Loyola high school junior record by over 4 feet this year in the shot on June 25th, and broke the Loyola school record at The CIF State Meet in the discus with 182'9" on June 3rd with a silver medal, helping Loyola to a second place team finish.
Nick's marks, along with those of six other Loyola team members, scored 8,173 points to beat reigning 2010 champs Vista Murrietta high school of Temecula Valley by over 300 points, and Sam Barlow high school of Gresham, OR who earned third place in the country this year.

Budincich equalled his personal record on his first throw, then broke records on each of his next three throws of 56'+, 58'+ then the final mark of 61'101/2".
Loyola's team trophy was a huge stainless steel reproduction of the Hayward Field Stadium weighting over thirty pounds.
Budincich completed this season peaking and getting personal and school records in the two biggest meets of the season, the State Meet in Clovis, CA, and Nike National Meet in Eugene.
He enters the 2012 season next year as the #1 seed in the California shot put and the #4 seed in discus, based on this season's best marks.
