• New Smith River facility closes childcare gap for kids under 3 (actionnewsnow.com) — Families in Smith River now have a new year-round childcare option for children under age 3, thanks to a major expansion of the Tolowa Dee-ni' Nation’s Head Start Early Learning facility. The $3.5 million project adds classrooms, meeting spaces, and culturally grounded services for infants, toddlers, and pregnant mothers, easing childcare shortages and costs for working parents.
