Daily Digest 7/2/2026 (Charles Howland Townsend) (benton.org) — Solana Beach is set to benefit from a major fiber-network expansion as Intrepid Fiber acquires Ubiquity’s San Diego County system, which already passes local homes and businesses. The open-access network, spanning Solana Beach through Oceanside, will ultimately serve over 100,000 locations and could bring more internet provider choices and faster speeds to residents. Aboard the Sea Star, they also spotted kelp paddies, dolphins, a whale, and big halibut near Cardiff Pipe, offering useful intel for local offshore and inshore fishers.
   

4. Encinitas to State: Screw Your Money (voiceofsandiego.org) — Solana Beach residents are invited to meet North County reporter Tigist Layne at La Colonia Community Center on July 9 to talk local news and regional issues.
