Fire At Former Solvang Restaurant Determined To Be Arson (keyt.com) — Investigators have officially ruled the 2024 fire at the former Sear Steakhouse in downtown Solvang as arson and are asking for the community’s help. County fire officials released photos of three youths believed to be local to the Santa Ynez Valley and say they were seen at the scene shortly before the blaze. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Fire Investigation Unit.
   

2. Road construction underway in Solvang (ksby.com) — Expect significant lane closures and occasional full street shutdowns across Solvang now through August 1 as the city repaves key routes including Alamo Pintado, Alisal, and streets around Solvang School and Alisal–Glen. Work runs 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, so plan extra travel time, watch for traffic control, and consider alternate routes to avoid delays.
   

3. Public swimming program returning to Santa Ynez high school this summer (ksby.com) — Solvang families will again have access to public swimming this summer as Solvang and Buellton partner to reopen the Santa Ynez Valley Union High School pool for a seven-week program starting in mid-June. The cities will offer recreational swim and lessons, are budgeting up to $60,000, and plan to hire lifeguards and instructors, answering long-standing concerns from Solvang residents about the lack of a public pool.
   

4. Solvang Brick & Builds contest crowns winners during weekend festival (syvnews.com) — Downtown Solvang just wrapped a bustling Brick & Builds weekend, with master builders, youth creators, and families filling Solvang Park and the Veterans Memorial Building for LEGO-inspired contests and hands-on fun. Local themes dominated the winning builds, and a new Youth Brick Showcase expanded opportunities for teen creators, while scavenger hunts and outdoor activities kept the whole town involved.
