• City to Consider Raising Fees to Fill a Looming Budget Deficit (sonomasun.com) — Sonoma residents could see higher city fees as officials confront a projected $1 million budget deficit for 2026–27, with big changes proposed for permits, park rentals, and cemetery services. A new fee study suggests major increases across building, planning, public works, and special event charges, which the City Council will consider at a June 3 public hearing before possible implementation in August.    

• The fog is thinning over West County (sebastopoltimes.com) — West Sonoma County’s famous summer fog is thinning, and new multimillion‑dollar research is zeroing in on what that means for local redwoods, wine grapes, and neighborhood temperatures from Bodega to Sebastopol and Santa Rosa. Scientists are tracking fog from the coast to Pepperwood Preserve, showing how even an hour less fog a day can erase a century’s worth of cooling for inland Sonoma communities.
