 this workshop, French-American collage artist Catherine Cruz guides you
 in creating a cohesive series of abstract collages on four wood panels,
 exploring color, line, shape, design principles, and paper-mounting 
techniques.</h6>

<h3>About the Class</h3>
<p>In
 this workshop, French-American collage artist Catherine Cruz will teach
 you how to create a dynamic series of abstract collages using elements 
such as color, line and shape. You will work on four small wood panels 
to compose a cohesive series. Working on several panels at once offers 
several advantages, including greater creative momentum, the ability to 
build a strong thematic connection between pieces, and a way to maintain
 creative flow. This technique allows for a deeper exploration of an 
idea or theme than is possible with a single piece.<br><br>We will start
 with short composition exercises to discuss design principles and 
abstraction. Then Catherine will demonstrate her method for mounting 
papers on the panels. You will have ample time to select papers and 
create your designs.<br><br>We will take a short break for lunch between 12:30 and 1:00 pm so please bring your lunch and a beverage.<br><br>What you’ll learn from this workshop:</p>

<p><strong>IMPORTANT:</strong>

<p>Instructor will provide: a wide assortment of painted and printed collage papers, brushes, acrylic medium, scissors, rulers.</p>

<p>Cory
 Infinite is a self taught fashion designer from Kansas City, Missouri 
that creates clothes from recycled materials and sometimes trash. Ever 
since graduating high school in 2020 Cory has built a following of over 
830K across Instagram and Tiktok and has worked with brands and 
musicians such as: Converse, Ripley’s Believe it or not, Erykah Badu, 
A$AP Rocky, UFO361, Yung Lean, Teezo Touchdown, Magdalena Bay, 347 Aidan
 and more.<br><br>Cory’s pieces have appeared in Vogue Germany and have 
been worn on stage at Coachella, Dave Chappelle’s Night Club, and on 
Jimmy Kimmel Live TV. Cory has appeared in Newsweek and on Fox 4 KC two 
times now. The Cory Infinite brand stands for sustainability, 
positivity, creativity, inclusivity and infinite human potential. Cory 
Infinite seeks to encourage others to tap into their infinite potential 
and use what’s already around them to the best of their ability.<br><br>Cory will also be a guest judge for our Trashion Fashion Runway Show.</p>

<p>Painting
 outdoors on location is a wonderful way to connect with nature and keep
 you in the moment. If you’d like to start plein air painting, here is 
your chance to learn what equipment and supplies are needed. What is a 
pochade box and do you need one? Michael Bartlett will share his 
considerable knowledge to help you get started – and spare you from 
lugging too much up a mountain or out to the beach. Bring a notebook to 
write down valuable tips. Though this workshop is oriented for oil 
painters it also applies to other outdoor mediums such as watercolor, 
gouache, and pastel. This workshop is the perfect lead-in to Michael’s 
class <strong>Plein Air Oil Painting: Chromatics in the Wild</strong> which starts on May 4th.</p>

<p>A fireside chat with Sally Kohn and Martin Gobbee- Moderator.&nbsp; &nbsp;Sally a&nbsp;member of the queer community, is a nationally recognized television&nbsp;commentator, writer and executive presence coach working with top&nbsp;executives and political leaders.&nbsp; With her message of connection and&nbsp;compassion for all, Sally is an in-demand speaker worldwide. In fun and&nbsp;informative talks, filled with powerful personal stories and&nbsp;mind-blowing research, Sally helps teams and communities move past&nbsp;conflict to find their common ground.&nbsp; She leaves audiences feeling more&nbsp;empowered, hopeful and inspired.&nbsp; Sally's first book, THE OPPOSITE OF&nbsp;HATE was published in April 2018.&nbsp; She has three TED talks that have&nbsp;been viewed more than 6 million times.&nbsp;</p><p>Moderator Martin Gobbee is a&nbsp;local business Manager in hospitality, and a member of the Wake UP&nbsp;Sonoma Board. <p>Roll up your sleeves and join us for a special evening of “Trashion” Print Lab!<br><br>Our
 mission is to explore a creative arts technique socially with our 
community. Print Lab is not a traditional class, but an affordable 
art-making experience. We welcome you to print, play and experiment with
 an activity to create something unique in our printmaking studio!&nbsp;<br><br><strong>In honor of “Trashion Fashion” we are focusing on creative reuse, and sustainable printmaking!&nbsp;</strong><br><br>Tetra
 Pak printmaking is an eco-friendly and accessible art technique that 
repurposes used food and beverage cartons – like those for milk, juice, 
or broth, as printing plates. It is a form of intaglio printmaking 
(similar to drypoint etching), where you scratch or “incise” a design 
into the carton’s inner foil or plastic lining to create a printable 
surface. Carton printing is widely considered a highly sustainable 
alternative to traditional etching because it prioritizes creative reuse
 and non-toxic processes.<br><br>Recycle, repurpose and recreate! Learn 
how to turn garbage into beautiful prints! We will demonstrate how to 
draw, scratch, cut, ink and print carton surfaces on our presses with 
water-soluble etching inks. Guests will leave with their own prints they
 create! <strong><em>We have plenty of cartons to share, but we 
encourage guests to bring their own cleaned Tetra Pak’s and milk cartons
 to use or donate to the printmaking studio.</em></strong><br><br>No printmaking experience is necessary. Light refreshments will be provided.&nbsp;</p>
