In this one-day workshop, participants will learn and practice
foundational drawing techniques while sketching the beautiful trees at
Jack London State Park. Each student will choose a tree to draw, and
then spend time rendering their subject while receiving instruction in
proportion and other key drawing skills.Once students have an
established drawing, they will explore the light and shadow on their
tree with inventive colors in watercolor. Practice and build your
observational drawing skills, spend time in nature, and have fun with
color!Discover the meditative benefits of a plein air art
practice, and gain a deeper appreciation for the natural world around
you through close observation and intentional rendering. No prior
drawing experience necessary; beginners welcome. All materials are
provided and all experience and skill levels are welcome!After the workshop you may choose to go hiking, tour the museum, or walk to the ruins of the Wolf House.Important
note: There is a Vehicle Entry Fee of $15. After the kiosk, veer to the
right and proceed to the parking lot. All students will meet the
instructor in the parking lot and walk together to the workshop area.
Dress for the weather and bring a water bottle and snacks or a bag
lunch.
