Dharma Art, The Experience of Nonaggression

This Thursday evening our monthly "First Thursday" Open House & Dharma Nights series will feature long-time Shambhala Teacher and practitioner, Kerry Schwartz, giving an introductory talk on Shambhala Art.  As you may know, in his vast vision for Enlightened Society, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche worked with many different art forms, and encouraged artists from all disciplines. The Shambhala Arts Program offers many opportunities to explore the enlightened use of the senses.

To the artist in all of us, the creative process often seems mysterious and magical.  How do we give a physical reality to our inspiration so it communicates its essential nature?  Shambhala Art’s purpose is to explore the creative process and the product we call art, from experience grounded in a meditative discipline.  This encourages us to see things as they are, rather than just how we think or imagine they are."

"Without seeing things as they are, it is hard to create art. Our perceptions are obscured and our mind is not fresh, so making art becomes a troubled, futile process by which we’re trying to create something based on concept".
