Fatality Reported On Highway 12 Near Agua Caliente: CHP

The fatal incident possibly involving a bicyclist resulted in the closure of SR-12 in both directions.

SONOMA VALLEY, CA — State Highway 12 reopened to through traffic Wednesday afternoon in Sonoma Valley after officers with the California Highway Patrol Napa Area Office responded five hours earlier to a fatality possibly involving a bicyclist.

The fatal incident was reported at 9:14 a.m. on SR-12 just east of Madrone Road in Agua Caliente in the Sonoma Valley, according to the CHP.

A bicyclist fell at the scene, the CHP said.

The Sonoma County coroner's office was summoned at 9:46 a.m.

The collision caused the closure of both eastbound and westbound lanes, with a Sig-alert in effect for the roadway as of 11:17 a.m. Wednesday.

Traffic was being diverted at SR-12 and Agua Caliente, according to the CHP.

At 2:14 p.m., the roadway was cleared and reopened to traffic.
