From Grammy's to Concerts Second Octave Becomes Sonoma County's Premier Music Company

Second Octave and its summer series, SOMO Concerts, are quickly becoming the go team for live music, artist management and special events

Based in the all green and sustainable SOMO Village in Rohnert Park, Second Octave and its flagship summer series, SOMO Concerts, are quickly becoming the go team for live music, artist management and special events in Sonoma County.

The SOMO Outdoor Concert Series is the brainchild of three Bay Area music business veterans. Lee Smith is the former president and chairman of Live Nation (formerly Bill Graham Presents) and currently head of Prescient Entertainment, the exclusive promoter of performing arts events at the award-winning Mountain Winery in Saratoga, CA. In addition and leading Second Octave management are Morty Wiggins, the former VP of Bill Graham Presents and general manager of A&M Records, and is CEO of the Sonoma Mountain Village-based Second Octave companiest, including Sonoma County’s only licensed and bonded booking agency and artist management company. Wiggins’ partner in Second Octave is Steve Senk, longtime licensing and merchandising guru from Sony Music and Live Nation.

Bands currently managed and or booked by Second Octave include: Eliane Elias (who won a Grammy for best Latin jazz album of the year), Royal Jelly Jive, The Highway Poets and Girls + Boys.

The team at Second Octave are committed to promoting high end quality events, outdoor concerts and festivals in the North Bay with shows for all ages in a safe environment that supports local creativity, collaboration and commerce. Each SOMO Concerts event is a mini-festival with local artists, vendors, food and more. The SOMO Concert Series is managed by these high-level music executives working alongside Sonoma County young professionals to create a regional destination and home base for great musical experiences.

The 2016 team is bolstered by the addition of:

Josh Windmiller of the North Bay Hootenanny and The Crux, who has joined the team as Production Director, bringing 10 years of Sonoma County music promotion experience as well as The Railroad Square Music Festival, the new Next Level Showcase and Conference and the music booking for Petaluma’s Rivertown Revival. Josh is a graduate of Sonoma State University.

Bryce Dow-Williamson has also joined the team as Marketing Director. Bryce managed last year’s marketing for SOMO Concerts, spent two years working with the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts, and currently serves as a board member for the Chimera Arts & Maker Space in Sebastopol. Bryce cut his teeth at a DIY venue in Santa Rosa called the Boogie Room and Gardens and comes from a background of poetry, loud local shows and a degree in Sustainable Business from Warren Wilson College.

Isabelle Garson is a media producer bringing her variety of content creation skills, social media management experience and mission of integrating the integral authentic voices of the spiritual and artistic community into the digital realm to the team as Assistant Marketing Director.

Richard Powell is a technologist specializing in web design and graphic design dedicated to helping Second Octave establish their visual brand and web presence.

Thomas Meade recently graduated from Sonoma State University with a degree in Sociology and is the booking manager for Second Octave Talent.

The Sonoma Mountain Village Event Center, found at 1100 Valley House Dr. Rohnert Park, CA, 94928, is solar powered and features the latest sound technology custom designed for the venue’s outdoor 1200-square-foot stage. It is located in the heart of Sonoma Mountain Village, an environmentally friendly 200-acre, planned mixed-use community in Rohnert Park, CA, forty miles north of San Francisco.
