Hit-and-Run Driver Sought For Striking Pedestrian In Sonoma Crosswalk

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – A pedestrian suffered significant injuries and is being treated at a Napa hospital after being struck by a vehicle Friday in Sonoma, according to law enforcement.

At approximately 4 p.m., deputies from the Sonoma Police Department responded to a report of a person struck by a vehicle while crossing Broadway at Andrieux Street at a crosswalk in Sonoma.

The vehicle, described as a gray or silver sedan, possibly a Mitsubishi Eclipse or Pontiac Grand Am, with a white man in his 20s behind the wheel, fled the scene prior to the deputies’ arrival and was last seen driving northbound on Broadway in the area of Patten Street, officials said.

Several motorists and pedestrians witnessed the collision and stopped to render aid to the victim, who was still in the roadway, authorities said. Sonoma Valley Fire and Rescue Authority also responded to the scene and transported the victim to the Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa for treatment.

The suspect vehicle could possibly have a shattered windshield, detectives said, and asked that business owners or residents along Broadway or adjoining streets review Friday security camera footage between 3:45 p.m. to 4 p.m. for information that might assist the investigation.

The collision is being handled by the Sonoma and Windsor police departments, and anyone who witnessed or may have information is asked to call the Sonoma PD at (707) 996-3601.
